In the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch, King Fergus rules. He is Merida ' s father and Queen Elinor's husbnad. He and Queen Elinor also have three triplet boys. During an outing a giant bear named Mor'du, attacked the family and that's when King Fergus lost his leg while fighting off the bear so that Queen Elinor and Merida could escape. The Scottish Lords Macintosh, MacGuffin and Dingwall present their first-born sons to King Fergus - hoping that they are chosen as Merida's husband compete for Merida's hand.
